The informative conference "ISO/IEC 25000: Calidad del Producto Software, Factor clave para la competitividad de empresas y organismos" ("ISO/IEC 25000: Software Product Quality, A key factor for the competitiveness of companies and organizations"), organized by AENOR, was held on 29 April, 2014 with the purpose of presenting the certification of Software Product Quality conforming to ISO/IEC 25000. The conference included presentations from representatives of AENOR, AQC Lab, Optimyth, and Bitware.

- The conference started with the opening remarks by Mr. Ignacio Gonzalez Ubierna, Cybersecurity Technology Development Assistant Director of INTECO, and Manuel Romero Alarcon, Certification Commercial Director of AENOR, who praised the creation of an innovative service such as the certification of software product quality, which is also very necessary today in such a competitive industry as software development.
- The day continued with the participation of Carlos Manuel Fernández Sánchez, ICT Manager of AENOR, who presented the Software Product Certification service as a solution to the problems of software development, explaining how the ISO/IEC 25000 standard fits in the AENOR model for the governance of data centers, which is applicable to any business that provides information technology-related services.
- After that, Mr. Moisés Rodríguez, managing director of AQC LAB, presented in more detail the ISO/IEC 25000 series of standards, as well as the characteristics of the service provided by AQC Lab, laboratory accredited by ENAC for the evalaution of software product quality, currently focused on maintainability. - The conference followed with the talk of Mr. Luis Rodríguez Berzosa, Technical Director of Optimyth, who presented Kiuwan, a cloud solution for software quality control provided by Optimyth that can help in the preparation of software development companies interested in the certification of their products conforming to ISO/IEC 25000. - The talks section of the conference ended with the presentation of Mr. Luis Montalban, Managing Director of Bitware, who discussed their practical experience as one of the three companies that participated in the pilot implementation of the software product quality certification service conforming to ISO/IEC 25000. The speaker explained the benefits that Bitware obtained as a result of the evaluation and improvement process that was carried out over their product in order to certificate it. Some of the benefits perceived were the simplification of up to 40% the code base, and a 30% reduction in the maintenance effort.
- The conference ended with a round of questions and conclusions, followed by the opportunity to network with other attendees of the conference while enjoying a coffee at the headquarters of AENOR.
The conference attracted many representatives of both private companies and public administration agencies, who expressed their interest in this new software product quality evaluation and certification service.
